Upsets, Goals & Drama – Phoenix Field Hockey League Semis
Last Saturday, the Glendale Field Hockey turf was on fire! The air was thick with tension, cheers, and non-stop excitement as the Phoenix Field Hockey League semi-finals delivered two absolute thrillers. Players from every team packed the sidelines – nobody wanted to miss this! At 6 PM, the mighty unbeaten Rattlesnakes clashed with Coyotes. Then at 7 PM, second-placed Panthers faced Eagles. What followed was nothing short of a rollercoaster ride!
Drama on the Turf! Rattlesnakes’ Unbeaten Run Ends in Heartbreaking Shootout
Rattlesnakes had ruled the league all season like kings. Captain Ruthie’s experience, combined with a rock-solid defense led by Sukhi Hundal and Inderjit Chatha, and sharp attackers like Ravneet Johal and Pari Rasmani, made them look unstoppable. Midfielders Niranjan, Helki, and Kalpna kept everything balanced. Everyone expected another Rattlesnakes masterclass. But the green turf had a different story to tell that evening!

Now at this stage the balanced Coyotes won 3-2 in the shootout
Coyotes, led fearlessly by captain Amol Rakkar, came out with fire in their hearts. Tony Mangat, Kim Dillards, Shamsher Johal, Raman Johal, Anna, Manmohan Gill, and Bahadar Singh brought pure energy
and grit.
The match exploded early! Ravneet Johal slammed in a goal for Rattlesnakes and the crowd erupted. But Coyotes refused to back down. Kim fired in two brilliant goals, and the game turned into a goal-scoring war. The score was locked at a nail- biting 3-3 at full time.
Then came the heart-pounding shootout! Tension was sky-high. Every shot felt like it could decide the season. Inderjit Chatha stepped up… and his shot sailed agonizingly wide on the left. The unbeatable Rattlesnakes’ pride came crashing down in that single moment!
Coyotes won 3-2 in the shootout – a dramatic, unforgettable moment for them! In the absent of their big gun Namit Mangat the Coyotes had roared and punched their ticket to the Grand Final with massive new energy and belief.
Eagles Crush Panthers in Semi-Finals – Little Singh Shines

Eagles delivered a commanding 3-9 thrashing to Panthers
The second semi-final kicked off a little late because of the dramatic shootout, but Eagles wasted no time. From the very first whistle, they took control.
Vivek struck early for Eagles, sending a clear message – this was going to be their night. Panthers, missing key player PJ, struggled badly with coordination. Their passing game fell apart under pressure. Meanwhile, Eagles were flying! Vivek, Abdulla, Henery, and captain Anuj, along with rock-solid defender Simran, controlled every inch of the field.

Little Singh knocked the door for his future
But the real star of the show was the young sensation – under-14 player Gurshan Singh! This future superstar of American field hockey scored two stunning goals and played like a seasoned pro. His speed, skill, and confidence left everyone speechless.
In the end, Eagles delivered a commanding 3-0 thrashing to Panthers. Despite brave efforts from Panthers’ captain Raj Mangat, defenders Satwinder Bansal, Balbir Bahia, Raman Dhaliwal, Aman, and Lance, nothing could stop the Eagles’ momentum.
